Herb,
There is a Gilman Dodge on the 1830 census in Boston.
Boston, Ward 9, Page 310
Gilman Dodge
white males under 5 - 2
white males of 20 and under 30 - 1
white females of 20 and under 30 - 1
no slaves, or free blacks, total in household 4
He's not on the index for 1840.
Also in 1829 & 1830 Boston Directory
Dodge, Gilman
Address(es): house: Washington Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts
Date: 1829
Occupation(s): livery stable, carriage/transport(a)
Listed in The Boston Directory [for 1829], 1829, STIMPSON, Charles, jr.. Boston
No. 72, Washington street
Dodge, Gilman
Address(es): house: 71, Milk street, Boston, Massachusetts
Date: 1830
Occupation(s): livery stable, carriage/transport(a)
Listed in The Boston Directory [for 1830], 1830, STIMPSON, Charles, jr.. Boston
No. 72, Washington street
On 1840 census there are 6 either Elizabeth or Eliza Dodge as head of household.
One in Illinois, one in New York City, one in New Hampshire, three in Massachusetts.
Assuming she wasn't in Illinois or New York City, I looked at the ones in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, none had a female under 5 in the household (Julia).
Only William Buckminster that comes up on 1840 is in New Hampshire, but he is between 60-70 with only 1 other person in household (female) between 60-70.
Hope something in there helped.
Nancy
