Hi Gordon,
Unfortunately, I cannot give you the name of the vessel, however I can help you narrow down the search.
In 1847 Timothy was apprenticed to a William Smith who sold grain, hardware and liquor. In 1848 his mother died, in 1851 his sister Margaret moved to Canada. His brother Robert was already there.
The first record of Timothy in Canada was in 1854, almost 2 years after his apprenticeship with Smith ended.
Now comes a blank in the record.
One story has it that he spent the next 2 years in Antrim; another that he came to Canada immediately and worked in the Maritimes and at Bytown (Ottawa, with Robert).
Either way, I think that you will be looking at vessels arriving between 1852 and 1854, landing in perhaps Halifax, Quebec City or Montreal.
A good starting place would be this site, but please do not stop searching at this one.

I also wish to caution you that at the time of the voyage, Timothy was a young man and hardly worthy of notice by other passengers. You may be dealing with a "Family Tradition" with this exercise and may need to dig a lot deeper than the year-span that I have suggested.
