Eaton Gleanings from Freemans’s Journal 1830 – 1900

The Freeman’s Journal was the leading newspaper in Ireland throughout the 19th century. It survived from 1763 to 1924 when it merged with the Irish Independent which still flourishes as a daily newspaper.

Note: there was some concern at the above meeting that the Irish Athletic Association had

“assumed” the name Gaelic Athletic Association.
