I believe your John Dorman Eby is the son of Joseph Eby b. Abt. 1798 Pennsylvania d. 1882, Stark County, Illinois, married January 13, 1822, Hocking Co. OH, to Elizabeth Dorman b. February 05, 1802, Ross? Co. OH d. August 15, 1885, Stark Co. Illinois.

John & Elizabeth are in 1850 Benton Twp., Hocking Co. OH census.
Not sure when they came to Stark Co. ILL but one daughter was married as early as Jan 1852 in Stark Co. ILLinois. I don't have access to the census for Stark Co. 1860 & 1870.
Joseph, Elizabeth and son George B. are still in Stark co. 1880 census as follows.

Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace
Joseph EBY Self M Male W 82 PA Farmer PA PA
Elizabeth EBY Wife M Female W 78 OH Housekeeping MD MD
George B. EBY Son S Male W 33 OH PA OH
Jennie BURNS Other S Female W 20 OH Servant OH OH
Source Information:
Census Place Valley, Stark, Illinois
Family History Library Film 1254252
NA Film Number T9-0252
Page Number 461B

I don't personally know much more about Jospeh Eby but online info on Rootsweb and the LDS website say he was son of Christian Eby & Christina Schaaf.

Elizabeth Dorman I believe is a sister to my Esther Dorman. Daughters of Elias Dorman b. Bef. 1774 MD? d. Bet. March - April 1832, Hocking Co. OH. wife was Leana? Unknown.

I can't find much on Elias Dorman.
