We had conversation some time ago regarding the David Davies Eby line.
I did DNA testing on my father before he died--but apparently not the type of testing you mentioned. We used the DNA Ancestry Project which tested the yDNA and mDNA.
However, we did get a pretty good match that way--38/38 with one of the Canadian Ebys who can trace his roots back to Theodorus. The testing indicated a 79 percent chance of a common ancestor within the last 11 generations and 95% within the last 20 generations. My biology background is really limited but as he understood the testing, the connection could be as close as 5-7 generations. Greg is a descendant of Christian, son of Theodorus and he is 8 generations removed from Theodorus if I figured right.
Since that Canadian line traces back to Bartlis Aebi in Solothurn, SW, seems pretty reasonable to stake out a claim to heritage from him, now to find out how. . . .
There was also a 20/20 match with a Gordon Dunlop but I cannot find that surname anywhere in the Eby line.
Maybe if others get tested by either program, someday we will get even closer to the truth. I am also still searching out the origin of David Davies Eby/Ebi.
Oh yes, for ancient roots, we also came up with Haplogroup I (M170)
