I have also been told that "Eccher" means "on the corner". We always thought that it was due to the fact that the area our family came from was part of France, Germany, Italy, and Austria at various times throughout its history. My aunt showed me a postcard of Rencegno/Roncegno that was sent by one of the family members. I was also told that the area the Eccher family lived in was in the Dolomites. If anyone has more info on the Eccher family, I would like to learn more. I know one of Emanuelle's (Herman in English) brothers ended up moving to Colorado.
