I am searching for my grand uncle, Josef or Joseph Eckhardt or Eckhart. He was born about 1902 in Slovenija, Yugoslavia, I think. He immigrated to the US in 30 Jun 1921 on the ship Mount Clinton with his mother and sister. There are numbers above his name on the ship manifest which are 2343-C-3427633 ....I'm not sure if those are his naturalization numbers, if they are, where can I obtain this document. Josef Eckhardt left NY about 1932 to return Germany to enter the USSR. He stayed about one year, and returned in 1933 to pick up his wife, Josephine and returned to the USSR. No info from 1933 to 1939. In 1939 he was drafted into the Russo-Finnish War called the Winter War was a conflict between between Soviet Union and Finland which started in 1939 and ended 1940. Joseph was never heard from again after WWII. It is said that Josef and Josephine had a child named Olga. Family story is, he was not hapy with the communist party and wanted to return to Germany perhaps being murdered in doing so. Any help or advice in finding our Josef Eckhardt or Joseph Eckhart would be greatly appreciated.
