Eckman is one of the many names I have been researching for about 10 years. My father's parents were both born in Lancaster County and his mother was an Eckman. I would be most glad to help you; however, your family is not as yet in my data base.

I would suggest (if it is possible)to get copies of your granddad's DEATH certificate. The info on his parents should be listed. You would then know his dad's name for sure. If indeed it is Daniel, you may be lucky enough to also obtain the name of Daniel's wife.

I have already looked at the census for Baltimore (on Charles Mackwood Eckman, Sr. was 34 at the time of the 1930 census, Marie was 32, Charles Mackwood Eckman, Jr. was listed as 8. Marie's mother and father were listed as born in Germany. Marie was born in Maryland. Charles, Sr. was born in Maryland, his father in Maryland and his mother in Pennsylvania. Charles and Marie had also been married since he was 24 and she 22. I will try to look at the rest of the families in Baltimore at that time and see if I can find one whose "head" was born in Maryland with a wife born in Pa. If you do not hear from me in a week, PLEASE e-mail me at directly.

Also in snooping...Charles Mackwood Eckman lived at 233 South Stricker Street, Baltimore at the time of the First World War. Also, if you do not have this....his date of birth is listed as July 12, 1895.

Contact me with any questions you may have. I feel that with what you already know and what I have we are only one generation from the answer
PS I also live in Maryland and remember your dad from Baltimore TV. He was a kick!
