Hello,

I have just started researching my family tree and I started with Economos because it is very unique last name. My paternal grandfather Theodoros Panos Economos was born in Greece on Feb. 3, 1903. On October 5, 1915 he left Temeni, Greece with his mother and several siblings. They came through Ellis Island and some how made their way to Illinois. When applying for a Social security card in 1936 he gave Chicago, Il as his place of birth. It is my understanding that many family memebers stopped using Economos and started using Egan because it was easier to find work with an Irish last name.

What is your connection to the Economos of Illinois?

Melissa
