Josh..This is very interesting.
My ggrandfather was James Edgar Edds(note spelling-changed name from Eads-c1858)He was b-1831-Monroe Co.WV(Va)-d 1906-Fayette Co.WV.He was grandson of Peter Eads on Monroe Co.WV.I have never seen any indication that he was in Civil war.He had so many children(20) i don't know how he had time for the war(Grin)but you never know...None of his children were named James E.Jr.

Peter's son Stephen had a son James-b-c1846 mar Adda June Terry-lived Fayette Co.(this is all i know about him)
