The Saint Charles (Illinois) Review, May 25, 1878
Among the patrons of this factory (Cold Spring Creamery on the Sycamore road in Campton) is Spaulding E. Eddy. His farm, which is situated about four and one-half miles from St. Charles, and two miles from the factory, contains seventy acres of fertile land, alloted to general crops. Twelve acres of corn and potatoes, 38 acres of pasturage and 20 acres of hay, ar nearly th proportion of ground given to each crop. The orchard of nearly 200 trees, has almost, if not quite, escaped the frosts of this unpropitious Spring and is in a promising condition. One of these trees bore seven barrels of apples last year. Mr. Eddy is one of the early settlers - he came in 1838. He is a student of the science of spiritualism, is liberal in his religious opinions, and his creed is to do right.
