Alfred'd gggrandparents were listed in early documents as Phillip and Doletae Edings. Phillip was born (where?) circa 1678 and died in 1712 in Norfolk Co., Va. Doletae died there in 1737. They had 5 sons with the 4 youngest moving to Onslow Co., N.C. circa 1739 and establishing the Edens family there.
Their oldest son was Richard, born circa 1705 in Norfolk Co. and died there1759. Wife is unknown. They had at least 2 sons, one being Richard jr. who was borncirca 1742 in Norfolk Co. and died circa 1808 inMarlboro Co., S.C. His wife was Mary Hurley Cole ( I believe Hurley was her maiden name). They had several children including (Reverend) Allen Edens , born 10/8/1792 in Marlborto Co. and died there 9/26/1855. On 8/11/1812 he married Letilla Fuller, probably in marlboro Co.They had 10 kids and she died in 1834. Their second son was your Alfred, born 6/6/1816 in Marlboro and he died 6/13/1889 (where?). Alfred married Elizabeth Weatherly , circa 1844, probably in Marlboro Co. I know nothing else about their kids. A look at the 1850 & 1860 census' of Marlboro Co. probably would list their kids. Bob
