EDENS/GREENE Murders Mar 10, 1887 - Oldfield, MO

Does anyone know the identity of the James and Elizabeth Edens who were living near Oldfield, Christian County, Missouri March 10, 1887? Their two married children and two grandchildren were in the one-room cabin with them. They were Charles & Melvina (Edens) Greene - she was 16 and had been ill since the birth of her second child , and their children ages three years and three months; and William & Emma (Bridges) Edens. Emma, age 17, was pregnant with her first child, a boy she named Willie. James and Elizabeth Edens had come to Christian County about 1883 or 1884, about the same time that George Greene and his son Charles moved next door from Wisconsin. Three Baldknobbers were hung on the Ozark Square May 10, 1889 for the murders of James & William Edens and Charles Greene that night. No James, Elizabeth, William and Melvina Edens seem to appear in any recognizable form on the 1880 federal census. Elizabeth Edens disappeared after the murders. Her age is unknown, as are those of the three men. Emma (Bridges) Edens remarried James G. Scott, and Melvina (Edens) Greene remarried a man named Sawyer or Sawyers.
