Henderson Hagen Edens, son of Rev. George Edens and Sarah Jane Brickey, was born 6 Feb 1879 in TN, died Jan 1927 from TB. Married 1898 to Dona -pronounced "Doe (as in female dear)na"- Ethel Snapp, daughter of George Snapp and Nervesta Shanks. Dona was born 26 Nov 1879, died 18 May 1967. They were married on horseback in the middle of Clinch River. They had seven children:

Mattie Lou- b. 15 Mar 1903, d. 13 Nov 1907 - Tried to put wood into the cook stove using her dress tail as she had seen her grandmother do. Her dress caught on fire and she died as a result of the burns.
Bertha Mae- b. 8 Nov 1905, married 2 March 1929 to Dr. Jim Derrick, d. 19 Nov 1992. (She's my grandmother)

Henderson, James, Mattie Lou, and Ruby are buried at Hurd Cemetery, Big Springs, in Hancock Co. Dona, Emery, George and Bertha are buried at Highland Cemetery in Rogersville.
I have several photos: Dona and Henderson when they were first married, James, Mattie and Bertha as small children, home in Carters Valley, and one of my favs - one of Bertha with a flapper hair style taken out at the barn with a pig! Would like to share info, photos, and family tales with Edens cousins.
