I received this info from SCDAH:
"Book B, Page 194: William Edens owned 125 acres the home place joining lands of James Keith, Peggy Edens and others. No. 2 known as the Chastain place containing 75 acres joining lands of Tyre Roper and others. Heirs: Widow Mary Edens, Children: John M.C. Edens of Texas. Alexander Edens. Sarah A. Edens. Warren D. Edens. Samuel S. Edens. Rebecca wife of Nathaniel Lynch. Adline wife of James Jones. Evelina B. wife of Barring Gallaway resident of North Caronlina. Heirs of the wife of Wilson Jones viz. Mary J. Jones, Heirs of William J. Edens number and names unknown. Dated Feb. 22, 1871"
Apparently Pickens County Courthouse has the original, which I have already sent off for.
Also, I received William J. Edens Service File from NA.
Elizabeth signed for William's final pay on 21 Nov 1862. The 2 witness' for Elizabeth were John H. Ladd and Edward Chastain. Ladd signed his name and Edward signed with an X
Also, William's death date is listed as the 25th and the 22nd. It has both dates, but appears to be the 22th on the paper signed by the Captain, the document signed by Elizabeth, so I'm keeping it the 22nd.
To me this all adds more weight that William J. Edens was very possibly the son of William Elford and Mary Edens.
Thanks for reading,
