Your Edens line in America started with David William Edens, born circa 1750, possibly in England (some researchers think he was born in Va., but I doubt that). He died circa 1800 (or 1808?) in Bedford Co., Va. Circa 1773 he married Mary Ann Cobb in England or Va. They had 7 children (all born in Bedford Co.), including your ancestor, David (or Davis ?) Elisha Edens.

Elisha was born circa 1791 and apparently died during the 1840's, probably in Kanawha Co., Va. (West Virginia was formed in 1863). He married Charlotte Arthur 7/22/1811 in Bedford Co. On the 1860 census Charlotte lived with her daughter Malinda Jane Slater in Kanawha Co. and Malinda's children. It appears Malinda's husband, Jefferson was dead by then. Malinda married Jefferson Slater in 1832 in Jackson Co., Va. and they had at least 4 children: Mary Ann (born 1834); Sarah Jane (b. 1835); Thomas Master (b. 1842); and Charles A. (b. 1752).

Again, no one knows for sure where David William Edens was born and when he came to America.

This isnot much, but I hope it helps. I am not related to this family. Bob Eddings.
