MORE ON THE EDGSONS OF P DROVE, CAMBS
Hi Val,
Glad to hear that you are ok.
Hope you have received the Drop Line Chart which I think will speak for itself.
I went to the Wisbech Museum last week - no Edgson records in Wis. St. Peter late 1600s - early 1700s.These records are very tiring on the eyes as the script is very small and the photos of Parish Register sometimes quite dark.I get quite disappointed if I don't return home with some small find.Just as I was getting ready to go I spotted records of Kengerleys in the early 1700s, so all wasn't lost. This family name is spelt many ways and in my readings of the early Fens have discovered yet another clue which will have me investigating the records in Moulton near Spalding.
I almost forgot to say that I spoke to Robert ( I think that's his name at the Wisbech Museum) to ask if he had any sort of plan of North Brink, Wisbech - this was a very select area in Wisbech where Peckover House is - there was an Ann Edgson who lived on North Brink who died in 1829 aged 80 - it might be possible that she was sister to our James senior and if she remained unmarried, could have lived in the old family home.Just a few thoughts. The houses are beautiful and were built in the early 1700s.The Museum has no plan as such but perhaps the Hearth Tax, Window Tax etc might give a clue.
Perhaps you could let me have details of Hugh and his marriages and children and when he died.
Not much contact with Edgson researchers at the moment - have tried to redirect someone from Ancestry who might provide more stimulation. She's researching the Rutland Edgsons.
Notes on graves at St. John the Baptist, PD.
1. Elizabeth wife of John Edgson d 17.11.1882 (63 years)
2. John Edgson d 30.4.1867
3. Elizabeth wife of James Edgson d 24.4.1879 (54 years) (wife of son of John and Elizabeth)
4. James Edgson d 18-- (I think husband of No. 3)
5. Selena wife of John Edgson (30 years)
6. -- dith Edgson (Judith wife of James senior)
7. James Edgson d 4 May 1830 77 years (James senior)
There are nine graves - 2 unreadable, possibly one belonging to Thomas who died 1818.There would also be another grave for the child Marann (John's first marriage)
They all appear to be in order of their deaths.
Regards
Janice
