I descend from John and Joanna BEVAN of Bristol, England. John was a weaver, and he & his family lived in the parish of Bedminster (then Somerset, but later part of Bristol, Gloucestershire).
Joanna (or variant spelling) HUGHES (or variant)and John BEVAN were married in Bristol in 1785. They were both born about 1762, probably in Wales.
Their daughter Rebecca or Rebekah BEVAN was born 2 June 1793, and christened at St. John's, Bedminster, Somerset 25 August 1793.
On 19 Feb. 1826, she married Christopher EDINGTON, a saddler. They had two daughters, Margaret and Mary. Christopher died 17 Mar. 1830.
Rebecca remarried, to Isaac SMITH. Daughter Mary married John SMITH, but Margaret EDINGTON was still unmarried in 1891.
