Joseph Pilmore is suposed to have been the first Methodist preacher to come to northeastern NC about 1776. About 1783 or 4 Jesse Lee and Edward Droomgol or something came through and did a more thourgh job of starting churches if I remember right. I don't have the information available. McBride Methodist Chruch is near South Mills, just a mile from where some of the Edneys lived. It is on the site of a Church of England Chappel that was here before 1733.
