If you have paid much attention to this fourm lately you have noticed that there was an Edney girl who married a Jones and was disowned by her father. She and her husband came to the same area of the United States that Robert Edney had settled in about 75 to 100 years earlier. Can you check out any information about her family in England. Was there any Robert who left before 1724? All of us Edney decendents in America would very much like to know if there is a connection between Robert Edney who was here and Lovie Edney Jones, the daughter of Sir Jonothan Edney who came here much later.
I was able to buy a lot and build my home on land that was in the Edney family here. I am not sure exactly which piece it was. The map of the division of property in 1826 is not very accurate. My ansestor Sarah Edney Old stayed here but some of her sisters and brothers sold their land and moved west. My land goes back through the swamp to Edney Creek. My address is 104 Edney Creek Ct. I bought a ten acre lot near by from a cousin which is where a house built by one of the Edneys was. It was torn down in 1970. I have three of the wood pegs it was put together with and some of the hand made nails. It was a side hall plan house. It would take a lot of research that I don't have time for right now to see if it might have been the home of Robert Edney or of his son Newton Rencher Edney.
