My ggg-grandfather was Robert Jewell Edney, born 26 Feb. 1792, Milton, Parish of Portsea, Hampshire, bapt. Kingston Church same parish, son of William EDNEY and Sarah JEWELL. Robert and his wife, Mary Isabella PITTIS were married 21 Aug. 1816 in Newport, Isle of Wight. Robert Jewell EDNEY was a schoolteacher. He and his wife emigrated to America in 1819 on the ship RESOLUTION. They settled in Deersville, Ohio that same year. They had 2 children by then, but the 2nd born child had died just prior to their sailing for America. William, the father of Robert, owned a large farm, known as "Edney at Herney". This farm contained a coal mine.
Ring any bells?
