The Scottish Edneys

I've read much about English and American Edneys in this forum. Thought I'd diversify by posting my interest in this family name.

It begins with (John) Robertson EDNEY, a Scot transported to the colony of New South Wales in the land of New Holland in 1834. He wasn't a stray from England though.

Robertson Edney was born in 1803 at Edinburgh to David Edney and Janet Robertson. From there on the Edney family traces as far back to Fife Scotland to the mid-1600s.

There's a host of Edneys from this area, and I am wondering whether they are related to the English ones.
