Cathey,
I don't have nearly as much information on the Edneys that left Camden Co. as Dorothy has and I am not sure which Newton you are decended from. But if you ever come to northeastern North Carolina I can show you some of the land that once belonged to the Edney family. I own some of it. I bought a lot that once had a house on it put together with wood pegs and hand made nails that my grandfather told me was one of three built by Robert Edney. I don't know how acurate his information was. Unfortunately I don't have time to dig up all of the deeds and try to read that old writing. My land belonged to William B. Old who was the son of Sarah Edney and John Thomas Old. Sarah was the daughter of John Edney who died about 1825. Sarah had three brothers, John W., Samuel H. and Newton. My Aunt who did quite a bit of research belived that John Edney, the father of Sarah, was the son of Newton Rencher Edney who was the son of the original Robert. She believed that John's brothers were Robert, Newton Rencher, Joseph, Jonathan, and Levenworth. John's brother Robert had a son Newton R. Edney. John also had a cousin named Newton Edney.
Martha Ann
