Welcome to the hunt! I am descended from Rev. Samuel's brother, Asa, who also went to Henderson County. Both of them moved there from what is now Camden County, in northeastern North Carolina. If you look carefully at a map, you can find the town of South Mills. This is the area where they were born and grew up. Their father was also named Samuel (his father was Robert) and may also have come west toward the end of his life. The Edney family in the east seems to have been involved in the timber business, cutting and selling the wood around the Great Dismal Swamp. We have no firm information yet on the family's previous locations, but have located the name Edney in the Caribbean and in the U.K. There is a genealogical society in Henderson Co. which might be able to help you with information. Several other folks have done a great job of researching the family. If you check the posts on this site, you will meet most of them and get some good information.
