Just so there is no confusion, the original question was regarding Samuel E. Edney. He is not the same person as Rev. Samuel Edney or his father, Samuel Edney. My assumption is he probably came from the Pasquotank/Camden county Edneys since he is shown married to a Spence.
Regarding the statement that the Edneys may have been involved in the timber business, that does not prove out with the information printed on the area of Pasquotank or Camden counties. Believe me, I have tried to prove this and ended up disproving it! If anyone find out otherwise, I would like to hear about it.
