Hello Martha Ann,

Since Joseph "Dan" Tapscott posted his message, I have found that Ann Edney Tapscott married Benjamin George, and their son, Benjamin George, Jr. and his wife, Catherine Lawson, named one of their daughters, Ann Edney George. This cinches the family name of Ann for me, as this makes it clear that the name came through her genes and not of the Tapscott family.

I am a descendant of two Edney Tapscotts, one being the son of Henry and Ann, through their son, Henry Tapscott who moved to Caswell County, NC. Henry named one of his sons, Edney, who is my ancestor. So the name is quite important to me and my family.

I know that there has been a significant lapse in the time you answered Dan Tapscott's query, but I am still hoping that you monitor this site and will respond.

Best regards,

John Fox
