It's good to hear from you. I live in Valdese, Burke County, just west of Hickory. My Edney family came here from Henderson Co. just over 70 years ago. The first NC Edney family was the Pasquotank (now Camden) county family of Robert and his wife, Ann. Rev. Samuel Edney and his brother, Asa (my ancestor), went to western NC in the 1790's.

It is unfortunate that no one has yet discovered anything provable for Robert Edney prior to 1724. The name appears in some Maryland records, but no link has yet been found.

Best of luck on your research.

Phillip Heavner
