A few years ago you wrote a response to a
question I asked about the marriage of
my Ancestors Joseph Guess and Constance
Taylor, the couple was married by a Squire
Swift at the home of Mary, Constance Taylors
Mother. Joseph Gist/Guess B 1761/62 is believed to be a Grandson or Grgrandson of Joseph and Ann Simpson Gist (She was the daughter of John and Sister to Richard Simpson) You explained to me how Squire Swift was somehow, related to the Simpsons.
Now with the Edney family we have another connection. Several Pasquotank, N.C. families which included Edneys, moved before 1800
to the Davidson Co. (Nashville, Tn. area).
Some of the other families were Jacksons,
Koens, and many more, in fact the area they
lived in is still referred to by some as, Pasqo.
My research is pointing to a John Jackson &
Lovey Koen marriage, this couple had
a daughter Sarah who married Jacob Felker, abt.
1817 Nashville, Tn.
They had a daughter Lydia, who married
Joseph and Constance Guess's Grandson William
Guess, after both families moved to Caldwell
County, Kentucky. I am pretty sure that an
Edney was married into the Jackson or Koen,
back in Pasqotank, before the move to TN.
Have you come across any accounts of the
Gist/Guess family in Orange or Caswell Cos.
in North Carolina?? They were part of the
Simpson family also. Those of us who are
researching Joseph have no idea who his
Parents were. Joseph and Ann Simpson Gist/
Guess had at least 4 sons and ? daughters in Fairfax, Va..
The only son who seems to have left any
trails for the researcher is John.
I have found quite abit on the Simpsons
too, which leads me to ask you if you
know if the Richard Windson who was a
member of the Lewis and Clark Expidition
was a Simpson/Windsor descendent???
As you know the Lewis family lived close
to the Simpsons and though I do not think
any of them actually participated in the
expidition, I thought they were related
to Meriweather Lewis??

Thank You
