Samuel Rufus Edney son of Balis Edney

I would like to know if anyone has info on Samuel Rufus Edney....

Yes I am searching for the Samuel and Amelia link....I have reason to believe that Samuel's name was recorded wrong on his Daughters death certificate as middle initial "E" instead of "R".......Out of every Samuel Edney I have looked at he appears to be the only one who fits the profile and is unaccounted for in either Marriage or Death records or in any form whatsoever.

There is documentation of him showing his relationship to Balis who was his Father with whom he was party to a lawsuit. But I have found no listing of his wife, or children.

The following info supports this.

Samuel Rufus Edney Sept. 15, 1811 - April 4, 1865 born and died in Henderson Co., NC No known descendants or marriage found yet.

He does show up on a couple of family trees, but as stated no descendants or marriage is noted.

His (assumed) daughter, the last born of four children was born in 1848, his (assumed)first child was born in 1838

1850 his (assumed) wife Amelia is listed as widowed in the Crawford County Missouri Census.

The only documentation I have of his name is from his daughters death Certificate. ( copy on file)

If I could find a copy of one of his other childrens death Certificates this would either support this assumption or blow it out of the water.....

His other children were

Joseph Edney b. 1838 NC Married Martha Jane Smith sister to Brittian
James Edney b. 1839 NC
Alfred b. 1847 MO Married a Elizabeth R. Stites
Mary Jane Edney b. Jan 1848 MO Married a Brittian C. Smith

The Family that descended from my Samuel were Episcopal Methodists also.

In My research of ME church history divorce was frowned on heavily, so it is possible that rather than list herself as divorced or separated that; for the mores and social standards of the 1850's it would have been better for his wife Amelia to list herself as widowed, rather than divorced especially if he was a minister (undetermined as of yet). My assumption is that he went back east to North Carolina and died where he was born....or had to go back east for other reasons unknown.

Many of the names of descendants of my Samuel share the same first names of Edney family's....Rufus, James, Joseph.

If you have specific info on Samuel Rufus Edney regarding his Marriage and children please do let me know.

I am not looking for any other Edney's from any other time than the period specified at the top of this post.
