I am the son of Deborah Mae Edney and Lester E Caine. My mothers Father was Richard Rudolph Edney.(for whom I am named) From what I have heard at gatherings in the past, is that my moms daddy was EARL Rudolph or EARL Richard my grandma Phillys Staub said they called him rudy. the story goes that my grandpa was from a farm and hated the farm-life AND said his name EARL reminded him too much of the "farm " so he changed it to Richard and dropped the Earl an interesting note that needs mentioning....Earl Rudolph/Richard Edney my grandfather actually (from what I have heard) kept HIS mothers maiden name of Edney. His father ( i think) was Hassell Mckinley Pace who married Nannie Edney. dont know the details of there life like why my Grandfather kept his mothers maiden name. I too have kept my mothers maiden name (Lester and my mother were never married) My mom was 17 when she had me. I have two sisters on my moms side they reside in Ohio. i had lived there for a while but am back in Va. ( one day hope to live in N C (kerr Lake area) I am a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints and am doing my geneology. my only question is how so many of the Edneys I know of here in Va came to be of African American Decent? jus curious Notify Administrator about this message?
