Yes, Juanita, it is the same family. This branch of the family left NC in a wagon train in 1797. Newton Rensher Edney's wife, Jane Smith, died in Sept. 1798 in probably either Williamson or Davidson Co., TN. In April of 1799, Newton remarried a widow from Davidson Co. This Newton Edney is now believed to be the brother of our Rev. Samuel and Asa Edney who lived in Henderson Co., NC. They were thought to be first cousins for many years, but new research indicates they were more likely brothers.
