The only help I can offer in the way of a connection between Newton Edney Jones and John Rencher Jones with the Newton Edneys who lived in Pasquotank Co. is the fact that the first Edney was Robert and his wife was Ann Wrensher/Rencher/Renshaw. They were in Pasquotank in 1724 and they bought land from John Jones. Have you traced your John back to the one who was there in the early 1700's? Also, if you find a Solomon Jones who could have had a child by 1764, please let me know at I believe my Edneys and Joneses were connected, but can't prove it.
Hope this helps a little.
