This document concerns the bankruptcy of Edward butt who is indebted to Thomas Webb the elder and Thomas Webb the younger, bankers of Ledbury, to the sum of 100 and upwards. Messrs. Poole, Homes and Gregg have been appointed as Commissioners to sort things out. These commissioners " for the better preserving of the estate of Edward Butt " have appointed Herbert Edy as " assignee of the estate and effects of the said Edward Butt ".

However, at a meeting of creditors owed 10 or upwards, held at the Feathers Inn in Ledbury, Timothy Spencer was elected as assignee. The object of this Indenture is to transfer that function from Herbert Edy to Timothy Spencer.
