Richard Henry EGGLESTON (b. 1871 Limestone Co., AL), son of William Fleming EGGLESTON and Mary Chambers BIBB, married Daisy Alice CARPENTER (1872-1918) in 1898 in DeKalb Co., Alabama. Daisy was the daughter of John Newsom CARPENTER (1825-1893) and Amelia Rosalie CRENSHAW (c. 1827-1882) of Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, and the granddaughter of Willis CRENSHAW and Amanda CHILES of Sumter Co. and Greene Co., AL.

Richard and Daisy EGGLESTON lived in Birmingham where they had four children:

1. Richard Fleming EGGLESTON - born 1899, married Ruth ____ and in 1930 lived Knox Co., TN
2. Louise Jerome EGGLESTON - born 1900-1909 and died before 1910 census
3. Mary Bibb EGGLESTON - born 1904, married Madison B. McCOLLUM, died 1934
4. Martha Elizabeth EGGLESTON - born about 1910, died Jan. 2009 in Texas at age 99

Surviving relatives are named in the 2009 obituary of Martha Elizabeth Eggleston (excerpt below):
EGGLESTON, MARTHA ELIZABETH, age 99 died January 1, 2009. She was a native of Birmingham, Alabama and long-time employee of The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. During her career she lived in Birmingham, Houston, Texas and Seattle, Washington and in her retirement years Rockport, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Henry Eggleston and Daisy Amelia Carpenter Eggleston; two sisters, Mary Eggleston McCollum and Louise Jerome Eggleston of Birmingham; and her brother, Richard Fleming Eggleston of Knoxville, Tennessee and nephew, Richard Henry Eggleston, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia.

She was the great granddaughter of Governor Thomas Bibb and Parmelia Thompson Bibb of Belle Mina, Alabama.

She is survived by a half brother, Beverly S. Eggleston and family of Ocala, Florida; grandnieces, Martha R. Eggleston and Elizabeth L. Eggleston of Wilmington, North Carolina and two second cousins, William K. Nonidez of Birmingham, Alabama and Jose F. Nonidez of Atlanta, Georgia. Additionally she is survived by two dear friends, Miss Kermit Grace of Kerrville, Texas and Mrs. Juanita Marroquin of Rockport, Texas. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama.
I'm tracing the family of John Newsom CARPENTER and Amelia Rosalie CRENSHAW, and would be glad to hear from Carpenter-Eggleston descendants and any other interested researchers.
