Rose Beaugrand d/o Caroline Eggleston
This is the transcription of the death certificate for Rose BEAUGRAND (who I believe to be my great-grandmother). Since the original document is not "photographical," what I have is also a transcription....
State of Michigan}
County of Kalamazoo}
I, Timothy A. Snow, Clerk of the county of Kalamazoo and of the Circuit Court thereof, the same being a Court of Record having a seal, do hereby certify that the following is a copy of the record of death of Rose Beaugrand and now remaining in my office, and of the whole thereof; viz:
Record No. 81
Date of Death: 1/28/1921
Beaugrand, Rose
Female, white, widow
age 54 years, 0 months, 10 days
Place of death: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Disease or cause of death: Cerebral Hemorage
Place of birth: Canada
Occupation: at home
Father: Frederick LaFontaine, b. Canada
Mother: Caroline Eggleston, b. Canada
Date of Record: 2/4/1921
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of the Circuit Court, the 23d day of May, 2001; signed Timothy A. Snow, by Ron Head, D.C.
I believe the handwriting on the original document would also "look like" Frederick LaFontaine could be LaFORTUNE, which is the name my grandfather FREDERICK ELI BEAUGRAND gave for his mother's maiden name on his SS application form. It seems reasonable that FREDERICK ELI BEAUGRAND would bear the names of his father (ELI) and paternal grandfather (FREDERICK) ... ELI Beaugrand being the name of Rose LaFORTUNE's husband and father of Frederick and FREDERICK LaFortune (aka LaFontaine).
Fred's SS appl. form states that he was born in Comber, Ontario, Canada (6/23/1885).
If anyone has information about the BEAUGRAND line, or for that matter the LaFORTUNE and EGGLESTON lines (who may have migrated from Canada with this family group), please contact me. Thanks in advance.
