Can anyone provide any information on a George Eggleston of Nelson County, VA? I believe he is the son of Richard Eggleston, Sr. of Powhatan Co who died in 1781.According to Richard's will, his son George inherited 400 acres in Cumberland Co. At some point George sold this land. I believe he moved to Nelson County (or he might have actually moved to Amherst Co., before it was divided). In May of 1833, a Nathan J Barnett and wife Salina and GEORGE
EGGLESTON and wife ELIZA sold 105 acres to Hawes Graves in Nelson County. I find no other reference to George. But there are many Smiths who settled in the area who were also from Powhatan, Chesterfield, and Cumberland Counties, and I think George was following the crowd. I have an ancestor who just might be connected to George, but need to know more about him and his family. My ancestor's mother was not married to George, but she gave her daughter the middle name of "Eggleston" . So if George is not the father, maybe he had a son that was.
