Clara M. (Ehlert) Bierley Obit
BLISSFIELD — Clara M. Bierley, age 95, was granted eternal peace on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. Though the past few weeks were difficult, she did not complain and her faith in the Lord did not waiver. We are comforted because we know that she is in Heaven and she is free from pain.
She was born May 5, 1912, in Palmyra Township, to Albert and Emma (Ott) Ehlert. She graduated from Blissfield High School and also Lenawee County Normal. She taught in the rural schools for several years. On June 14, 1933, she was married to Norman Bierley in Angola, Ind. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1978. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and taught Sunday school for many years at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Blissfield. Clara enjoyed spending time with her family, working on the farm and taking care of her flower gardens. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Clara is survived by two sons, John (Jane) Bierley of Ottawa Lake and Robert (Nancy) Bierley of Ottawa Lake; one daughter, Betty Prielipp and friend, Clarence Sager of Blissfield; three grandchildren, Thomas (Kathy) Bierley of Perrysburg, Ohio, Jennifer (David) Staley of Lambertville and Brian Bierley of Bloomfield, Mich.; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Parent and Faith Bierley and Nicholas Staley; one sister, Alice Seager of Adrian; one sister-in-law, Emma Bierley of Douglas, Mich., and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Sammy. In addition to her husband, Norman Bierley, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clarence “Jack” Ehlert; a son-in-law, William Prielipp, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Funeral services for Clara will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield with Pastor Kurt Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield. Visitation will take place prior to the service on Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hospice of Lenawee or to the Lenawee Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
