My great great Grandfather Aikins Elliott born 1837 Acklam? Yks England, christened 20 Jan 1837/mother's name Ann Elliott. Aikins became a master boot and Shoe-maker.Married Ellen 1862-63(Gascoigne)? born Huddersfield 1841. Son Charles G. born 1870 and James E. born 1880. At least one of these sons emigrated to the U.S.A early 1900s, probably to New England Specifically Connecticut. Specialists in propagation of Sweetpeas and Roses. Their brother Herbert Jackson, my Grandfather was also an expert on Rose propagation In England. I have not yet traced any brothers or sisters for Aikins, also I have not yet traced his father. Would be interested in any information. Also I know Aikins daughter Emily Agatha had in her possession a Family bible reputed to go back with family records to the 14th cent. I was shown the bible as a child and was shown our names in it . the names of all the ancestors was written through the text as there were so many. Unfortunately the bible dissappeard at the time of her death in the 1950's this was in Knaresborough England.posted by J.M.Elliott Laxton.
