FOUND: Littleberry Elder, Morgan Co. GA 1829
To my fellow Brightwell Elder descendants,I stumbled on an excerpt of a Morgan Co GA Deed Book I (1829-1836) transcribed by a Michael Farmer. It states the following:
"page 97 - Morgan Co GA: 21 Sept 1829, Jones Stapp of afsd co, to James Roberts of Walton CO GA, for $100, 40 acres, Lot 50, 20th Dist., Morgan Co, Rocky Creek, adj. lands of Crawley, John Stapp, Thomas Stapp, & others, where LITTLEBERRY ELDER now lives, in fee simple./s/ Jones W. Stapp.Wit.: G.W. Roberts, Elisha Henderson, J.P.Recorded 30 July 1830, John W. Porter, clerk."
I also found the Morgan Co. 1829 Tax Digest on the USGenWeb.It listed a Littlebury Elder followed by the number "124" - that may tell you where to look up the listing - I don't know.He is not in any other tax digests for Morgan Co.What is interesting about Littleberry's being in Morgan County is its nearness to where we know the Virginia-based Elders moved to - Clarke and Oconee Counties are immediately to the north of Morgan.I guess Littleberry left there in 1829 to go to Harris/Muscogee counties.
If anyone has any further info about Littleberry Elder, please pass it on.
