John Elder of Montgomery Co. Illinois pre 1850

Need info about a John Elder of Montgomery Co., Illinois. He settled there with Thomas Edwards son of William Edwards of Iredell County, NC. Thomas Edwards came to Illinois from Kentucky in 1826. Thomas improved
a farm near Bear creek in the northeastern
part of the township. Thomas was a corporal in Capt. Rountree's company during the Blackhawk war. Was John Elder buried at Edward's Chapel in Illinois? Who was John's wife. Was there a Sweem/Swim family living in the area at the time. (1826-1842). I am wondering if this John Elder was born in Iredell, NC. Thanks.
