Here's what I fugred out- his tombstone pic on findagrave helped to identify him. Let me know if anything is wrong please - like were born and mother's maiden name.
James HARVEY Elder was born January 15, 1833, in (maybe Perry, Clarion County) Pennsylvania- a son of James Elder and Catherine Adams- and lived with his family in 1850, in Clarion County. His brother, Thomas M Elder, served in the Civil War and died in 1862 in Harper’s Ferry. At time of his enlistment in 1861, Harvey Elder was residing in Brockwayville, Fox Township, Elk County, and was 5’ 6” with hazel eyes, dark hair, and a light complexion and working as a lumberman. He mustered in as a private on July 27, 1861, at New Creek, (West) Virginia. He was discharged on December 13, 1862, on account of wounds received at South Mountain and at Antietam.
Harvey Elder married Sophia Reese in 1864, in Cranberry Township, Venango County, PA, and had four daughters in all- Mary, Sarah, Florence, and Mabel. In 1870, Harvey, Sophia, and daughter Mary were living in Cranberry, Venango County where he was working as a farmer, and from 1880 to 1900, they continued farming but in Washington Township, Clarion County, PA. Harvey Elder filed for and received a pension (18295) in 1863 based on his invalid status, and his wife Sophia received a pension (613868Pa) as a widow in May 1906. Private James HARVEY Elder died May 22, 1906, in Venus, Pinegrove Township, Venango County, PA, and was buried Venus Cemetery in Fryburg in Washington Township, Clarion County, PA.
