Ellinghaus Germany to Baltimore, Maryland 1800s - current

Hello Ellinghaus researchers and family members.

I am a descendant of the Ellinghaus family who emigrated from Germany to Baltimore, Maryland prior to 1870. My great great grandparents were Julia Ellinghaus who married Nicholas Peterson of Denmark. I have been collecting records on the Ellinghaus family and am trying to determine whether my Julia Ellinghaus was the daughter, sister or niece of Charles L. Ellinghaus and his wife Julia Ann Hauser.

I think that at least 3 Ellinghaus brothers, Charles, Nicholas and Theodore as well as a sister, Julia, immigrated to Baltimore from the late 1860s to early 1870s.

I also believe there is a connection as my Julia (Ellinghaus) Peterson and her husband are buried very close to the Charles L. Ellinghaus family at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Baltimore. I would be very interested in exchanging information with any family members or persons researching the Ellinghaus family and collateral lines who settled in Baltimore City, Maryland.

Please drop me a note at and put Ellinghaus family in the subject line.

aka "Dee"
