Dear Angelyn,

The Allison/Ellison/Ellyson DNA Project tests the Y-chromosome DNA of men with the same or very similar surnames. Y-chromosome DNA is passed down through the generations from father to son just as surnames are. The DNA project is very helpful in helping men with the same surname find relatives. However, the DNA test results do not prove who their wives were. There are two different pedigrees of men who descend from Robert Ellyson which were submitted by two different participants in the DNA Project. One pedigree says that Robert's wife was Hannah Gerrard and the other one says that his wife was Elizabeth Gerrard. I will e-mail them privately and cc the message to you. In that way you can continue this discussion with them about this question. I'm not a descendant of this particular Allison/Ellison/Ellyson line and do not have the details of their genealogies.
