I am trying to find information on a George Washington Elms (born OH). He was born around 1837. His parents are George (b. MA) and Nancy J. (born PA).
I believe George W. died in the Civil War in 1864. He changed his last name from Elms to Elems around the time the war started. I do not know who he married.
He had at least one child: George Samuel Elems who married a Beatrice Freed (parents: Samuel Freed & Mary Sweet) about 1880. They lived in the Tiffin, Seneca Co., OH area. They had 4 children (all born in 1880's): Ora Bert Elems, Frank O. Elems, Mary E. Elems, Freed Elems. Mary and Frank ended up moving to CA, while Ora and Freed remained in Ohio.
Any help would be most appreciated.
