James Elms in the 1850 Washington Co Census
Posted by: D Bynum (ID *****5688) Date: February 14, 2008 at 17:17:18

Has anyone identified (i.e., who are his ancestors?) the James Elms found on page 311(b) of the 1850 census of Washington Co., Texas?

HH-429 James Elms 25 M Farmer AR
.............Nancy “ ....... 21 F -------- AR

Before 1830, I am aware of only 2 Elms families in AR……..brothers, Samuel & Thomas Elms in Independence Co. AR. Each of these families had a son named, James; however, both of these Jameses were born well before 1825 (and in fact, one of them was deceased by 1850).

Any thoughts are welcome.
