Hello Vickie,

Do you have Ancestry.com?

They have several family trees listed and the birth and death info I have on Christopher and Verna comes from those trees.

I can not verify it!! I've tried SSDI and Tennessee Death Index. I don't know how they found the info but none of them has the STATE of death listed.

What source do you have for a second marriage? Did Christopher divorce Verna after 1930 and remarry?

As you can see I have more questions than answers.

Texas Marriage Index shows Bernia Lollar but it should be Vernia (a nickname).
Margaret Laverna Lollar - nickname Verna or Vernia
She is listed in my grandmother's obituary as a sister, Verna Elrod in Tennessee, and my grandmother died in 1939.

1930 census Birmingham City, Jefferson Co, Alabama
Family #159 is daughter, Lou M Elrod Hancock and husband William W. Hancock plus children.

Family #169 is Bert M Elrod and wife with parents Christopher and Verna Elrod

Family #162 is Albert F Elrod and wife Lucile with daughter, Doris J Elrod.

The census takers made a mess out of this family but I did find them every census year. The Tennessee State Marriage Index has Verna listed as Bernia which caused a lot of confusion and the 1910 listed Christopher as LUM Elrod which is in my Lollar family notes on this family.

Children:
#1. Unknown Infant died before 1900 census
#2. Lou M Elrod Hancock 11 Mar 1896 TN - 8 Mar 1988 Birmingham, Jefferson Co, AL
#3. Verdie "Bert" Monroe Elrod 1 Feb 1899 TN - June 1942 ?
#4. Felix Albert Elrod 1 May 1902 TN - 5 Aug 1975 Roseville, Walker Co, Georgia

The family trees list a Jack Elrod died in 1942 as child #5. I know nothing about this.
The family trees also list Christopher C Elrod as son of John T Elrod and Mary Polly Martin. From what I've been able to find on my research they did have a son named Christopher C Elrod born 1873 and died 1901.........

I found a 1880 census record for a George Washington Elrod and Rebecca, 1 son listed as Columbus age 8 born 1872 TN.
I have this family listed as parents until I find a better source record.

I found a Elrod Cemetery in Putnam Co, TN and they only have 4 graves listed and none of them is for this family. John T Elrod and Mary Polly Martin are listed on Find A Grave and I don't remember the name of the cemetery but it was in Tennessee. 6 or 7 children are linked to them but not Christopher.

I would appreciate any information you can add for this family or if you have any source records that would help please email me.
