Hi.
The issue of who is the mother of Christopher Elrod, Sr. is one that has been bandied about, presumably because of the alleged marriage date of Johan Dieter Elrodt and Sarah Wood [Smith], supposedly 1720 (impossible if Maria died in 1721). The records of All Saints Church in Frederick County, MD, are undoubtedly the best source of information for much of the earliest Elrodts in America.
Here is what Parker Elrod's research gives: Maria Magdalena Lerchenzeiler Elrodt's death: 29 Jan, 1721.
Christopher Elrodt's birthdate is the same, so if that is the correct death date for her, she died in childbirth.
