Josiah, also called Joseph, Elrod b. ca. 1824 SC d. 1907 Gilmer Co., GA, married (1st) 1851 Lumpkin Co., GA Elizabeth Woody b. 1830-1837 NC d. after 1880, and had 6 children, all born in Lumpkin Co., GA:

1. Jemima "Adeline" Elrod b. 1852 d. ca. 1910-1920, married Unknown, and had children:
Amanda b. 1870-1871 d. after 1930 Campbell Co., TN (married 1902 Charles Colquitt Hall b. 1870 d. 1937 Campbell Co., TN, had no children),
Milton b. 1875 d. ca. after 1880 but probably before 1900

2. Jesse "Jess or Jessie" W. Elrod b. 1855 d. 1923 Lumpkin Co., GA, married 1883 Dawson Co., GA Amanda "Manda or Mandy" J.M. Adams b. 1852 d. 1927 Lumpkin Co., GA, had no children

3. Samuel W. "Sam" Elrod b. 1857 d. 1927 Baldwin Co., GA, married 1882 Dawson Co., GA Mary E. Adams b. 1862 d. 1948 Lumpkin Co., GA, and had children, all born in Lumpkin Co., GA:

Essie L. Elrod b. 1888 d. 1960 Hall Co., GA (married 1915 Thomas "Tom" N. Buffington b. 1894 d. 1957 Hall Co., GA),

Emma E. Elrod b. 1891 d. after 1930 (married 1915 Hubert F. McIntyre, and had children Harriett "Hattie" b. 1916, William Thurman b. 1919, Irene b. 1920)
Carl James Elrod b. 1894 d. 1974 Hall Co., GA (married 1927 Hall Co., GA Sarah Frances Nancy "Winnie" Anglin, and had child Joe "Burl" Elrod b. 1928 d. 1988 Hall Co., GA,
Maude R. Elrod b. 1896 d. 1964 DeKalb Co., GA (married 1921 Stewart McKinley Wiley b. 1901 d. 1968),
Garland W. Elrod b. 1904 d. 1926 Greenville, SC, in an auto accident (married and had a child who both died before 1930),
Chester Floyd Elrod b. 1907 Hall Co., GA d. 1949 Knox Co., TN (married Nancy "Eliza Jane" Hatcher b. 1904 d. 1940 Hall Co., GA)

5. Susan Elrod b. 1865-1867 d. after 1880

6. Mary Elrod b. 1870 d. 1940 Campbell Co., TN, married 4/7/1917 Campbell Co., TN John Brock b. 1849 d. 1920-1930
Campbell Co., TN, had no children

Josiah also married 1884 Lumpkin Co., GA Nancy Weaver b. 1826 SC d. 1884-1899 (widow of William B. Vandergriff). After Nancy died, Josiah married 1899 Gilmer Co., GA Mary Bolen b. 1847 d. 1908 (widow of Joseph A. Johnson). Josiah and Mary Elrod both died in Gilmer Co., GA.

I believe the following to be the CSA record for this Josiah Elrod.
CSA-7/24/1861-Josiah Elrod-Enlisted as a private Co. H, 1st Volunteers, Regiment, GA (From Lumpkin Co., GA) at Dahlonega, GA

In 1906, while a resident Quill, Gilmer Co., GA, Joseph Elrod applies for an Indigent Pension for his Civil War record in Co., H, 1st GA Regt. Vols.

The following are my notes from this Josiah/Joseph Elrod's Application for Confederate Veteran's Pension, state of Georgia, from the Confederate Pension Applications, 1879-1960, Archive Collection Name: Pension Applications of Confederate Soldiers and Widows Archive Collection: # GCP-214, Number of Images in Packet: 8.

Josiah/Joseph Elrod, a resident of Quill, Gilmer Co., GA who had resided there from 1901-1906, was born 1824 in South Carolina, had been a citizen of Georgia for 61 years since 2/9/1845, served in the Civil War in Co. H 1st GA Regt. Volunteers, enlisted 5/1861, served 12 months then reenlisted for another 12 months and served out term, "___ Union paroled, & remained at home remainder of war, being over age" and he stated "I have kidney & liver troubles, muscular rheumatism, gravel and general disability" and that his wife is badly afflicted with heart disease. It is dated 9/11/1906.
