Ed Miller who posts in this forum is our Emanuel family expert. I believe he has investigated the GA governor angle and determined that that's not our exact lineage, though there may be kin. Certainly there had to be some level of education, etc., in a family that produced doctor-pharmacist brothers. No question they were Jewish--part of our difficulty in tracing geneology may be due to a family reluctance to admit that fact in those days. Ed has the town in Georgia they were from--I have forgotten.
