I am looking for information about Edgar Moritz Emanuel (born Cologne 1890, died New York NY 1967; his wife Margueritte (Grete), nee Schuenzel and their two daughters, Ruth and Ursula. Ruth and Ursula, both born in the 1920s, would nowadays be in their early to mid-eighties, if still alive, but in any case might well have children who survive them.
Margueritte Emanuel was the younger sister of Reinhold Schuenzel, the German Film Director and Actor. The Schuenzels came from Hamburg. Edgar, Margueritte and Ruth, together with the elder Mrs (Dorothea)Schuenzel and Ruth's/ Reinhold's elder sister Else Grossmann, all left Germany by sailing from Barcelona in 1941. Ursula sat out the war in England before emigrating to the USA in 1946. Most of the family seems to have settled in Manhattan NY, though Dorothea and Else initially went to live with Reinhold in Hollywood. My task is to try to locate any surviving members of the Emanuel family. They may be still in NYC and known in a Jewish community somewhere, maybe not. But how can I set about looking for them?
